ONE WEEK FOSTER NEEDED:

Captain has been receiving veterinary care since he arrived in Whitehorse Oct 12th... You can see the improvements in this pictures. One eye remains foggy, but the other has cleared up… He does have some sight, but we still do not know the cause of this – and different treatments are being tried...

Meanwhile – his current foster is leaving on a pre-planned trip from Thursday Oct 25th to Tuesday Oct 30th. We need an alternate foster for Captain for one week, starting Wednesday Oct 24th to Wednesday Oct 31st…. A securely fenced yard would be required – and another dog would help him to navigate would help. He will need eyedrops daily and visits to the vet when needed.

His current foster says:

Captain is cuddly and affectionate. He loves other dogs… Very playful with humans and dogs. He is good with small children but still in puppy phase so would need to be watched around babies. He has not met a cat yet. He is mostly house trained as long as he gets out regularly (has the occasional accident) - excellent recall off leash in wilderness areas. He loves car rides.

ADOPTABLE BONDED PAIR:

Lady & Tanner are looking for a fur-ever home – preferably together…. They have always had each other… They have been at the same foster home for months now…. But not because of any problems with them… Lady is a smaller Husky who was spayed when she arrived. And Tanner a Chihuahua/Jack Russell Cross?, was neutered by YARN in September.

Their very patient foster mom has this to say about Lady & Tanner…

Lady: Loves walks, and bike rides. She talks a lot, especially when she wants to go outside and wants to be pet. She barks when people come to the door at the house but, not incessantly. She is very snuggly and a big suck. She likes other animals and is very docile but, she does chase cats and smaller dogs if they run away. She has never hurt anything. She likes to guard her food, but she isn't aggressive about it. She likes to have a kennel where she can go lay in, especially if things get loud. She needs to be leashed at all times because she's likes to go and explore on her own but, has come back every time she's gotten away. I think with some proper training she could easily be trained off leash. She loves to wrestle and play with her little best buddy, Tanner. She is a wonderful dog with a very friendly temperament.

Tanner: Loves, loves to chase me on my bike. He has a TON of energy and can easily out run Lady. Tanner also loves to chew and with or without sufficient exercise, he will need chew toys. Tanner does bark at men especially and anyone that comes to the door but, he is getting better especially with the door. He is more comfortable with women but he isn't aggressive with anyone, just scared. Tanner is the snuggliest, and loves to burrow under the blankets and nap on you. He does need to be taken outside every couple hours, as he wasn't potty trained when we got him but, he has improved immensely. He is more comfortable when lady is around, which is why I think they should be adopted together.

They may seem like an odd pair but, they both love to be outside and exercise, and they both love all types of weather, with the right outer wear for tanner of course. They do need to be kennelled when you are away and, they also both sleep in the kennel, which they are fine with. I also kennelled them together, as that's what they were most comfortable with.

Lady and Tanner are in Watson Lake. They could be moved to Whitehorse if a family was willing to foster them, so they could meet potential fur-ever familes. All potential adopters are required to submit an adoption application and be approved. You can do this online here: yukonanimalrescue.net/adoption-application/

KAISER UNEXPECTEDLY FOUND HIS FAMILY...!

Well none of us saw that coming... The fosters tripod dog Nabu took an immediate liking to our boy Kaiser... The foster family messaged to say "Omigoodness - we think we found Nabu's perfect match". Kaiser is so gentle and sweet... Look at that "great" fencing to keep him out of trouble... They have Husky experience and totally understand and agree to use a 100% leashing/tethering system every time they are outside of their secure environment - to make sure Kaiser won't go find porcupines. He will be neutered ASAP - and enjoy a protected life. Happy Tails Kaiser...!

CAT STILL MISSING - WATSON LAKE
PLEASE SHARE - So all WL Folks see this.

Chloe & Striper got out of their truck while they were staying at the Big Horn Hotel... The owners found Striper, but Chloe is still out there somewhere.

The owners have moved on and "hope someone has found Chloe and will give her a good home" unquote.

So we Watson Laker's should be on the look-out for this beautiful girl... Chances are she wouldn't survive living outdoors in a Yukon Winter.

If someone sees her and we can establish an area where she might be hanging out, I would loan out my live trap to anyone willing to try to monitor the trap to try to catch her.

UPDATE: AN ALTERNATE FOSTER HAS BEEN FOUND...
___________________________________
WHITEHORSE FOSTER NEEDED:

This little girl is Daisy... She is in Whitehorse now. She had a foster arranged, but due to a family emergency, they are unable to foster Daisy... They are heartbroken as they have fostered Daisy before and they truly love her... She is a small (14" high at front shoulders), very sweet girl who loves cuddling and is housetrained.

She is in town to be spayed on Tuesday Oct 16th... So the foster would need to get her there at 8:00 AM on that date, and pick her up again later in the afternoon. And we would arrange a ride back to her fur-ever home in Watson Lake, towards the end of next week.
