Hello…. My name is Hunter. I am coming to the big city to find my fur-ever home… I could catch a ride to Whitehorse today – Wednesday Oct 13th – leaving at Noon. I would be in the city by suppertime. I need a confirmed foster home, before noon to catch that ride.

I am a friendly 2-year-old, Terrier Mix. I am Neutered and up to date on vaccines. I am housetrained, good on leash and good in vehicles. I get along with kids and other dogs. I haven’t met any cats yet. I can display separation anxiety, so a home with someone home most of the time would work best for me…

All potential adopters are required to submit an adoption application and be approved. You can do this online here: yukonanimalrescue.net/adoption-application/ If you’ve applied before, you must message me to ask that your application be processed for this dog. Applications are considered in the order interest is received… But YARN will always pick the home that is best for “that dog”. Approved adopters will get the foster’s contact info to visit dogs.

FOSTER NEEDED - 5 DAYS ONLY:

Hello…. I am Jackson… My YARN name was “Rib-Eye” from YARN’s “Steak Litter”…

It sure is hard to get a neuter appointment these days, but my dad was finally able to get that booked and now it’s time to come to the city for that…. I live in a remote fly-in only community and my dad is unable to get away from work, so I will need a foster in Whitehorse for 5 days.

My foster would have to pick me up at the airport on Saturday Oct 16th. Then get me to Alpine Vet by 7:30 AM on Monday Oct 18th – and pick me up in the afternoon. Then I’d hang out another 3 days (close to the vet – just in case), before they take me back to the airport on Thursday Oct 21st.

I am an indoor 1-year-old Medium / Large size Husky cross. I am house-trained, up to date on vaccinations, good on leash, good in a vehicle, good in a kennel, good with kids and other dogs. Don’t know about cats as I haven’t met one. I have one true Husky trait which is – jumping fences. I have to be tethered when I’m out in the yard.

The smaller black dog playing in the video, is “Itty”. Her YARN name was “Chaise” from the “Chair Litter”. She was a struggling puppy, saved by assisted feeding... (8 boobs - 9 pups)

The black dog looks like our Sadie, who we adopted from YARN this past Feb.

Tala looks so happy

TRANSPORTER NEEDED - THURS OCT 7th...

YARN has a box that needs to get to the city tomorrow, Thursday October 7th... Not a very big box - maybe 15 lbs. Anyone traveling from Watson Lake to Whitehorse...?

Please share this... One of your FB friends might be making this drive and wouldn't mind at all taking a box... but they might not see this post until you share, like or comment on this.

WHITEHORSE FOSTER(s) NEEDED:

TODAY around 4 PM - these dogs arrive in the city... YARN needs one or two more fosters... For one smaller breed adult Male and one of his pups. They need a place to stay until Monday morning, when they head on the next leg of their journey to their fur-ever homes.

Full disclosure - Their house-training skills are a work in progress... But they kennel “like a dream”... So anyone with time to let them out at regular intervals during the day, could use a kennel/crate system to housetrain them during their 4 day foster. I could hook you up with instructions on how to do that... This could seriously reduce, or prevent all mistakes in the house. And you could make a difference in their future’s, by providing this training - for just 4 days... 😉

They are very sweet dogs - 16” to 17” at the front shoulders... They get along fine with other dogs... We don’t know about cats or kids. They would need a securely fenced yard, or a foster who will use a 100% leashing / tethering policy anytime they were outside of the home.

This is a message from Al Sider... He owns Pangga, the dog who broke her leg on the outside steps, then had to have her leg amputated...

I just wish to offer my most sincere thanks and appreciation to Y.A.R.N. and to everyone who donated to help with Pangga's surgery costs. it was urgent and unexpected, so I was very unprepared for the expense.

Thank you all Very Much. Pangga is doing very well now.

Dogs do well with 3 legs, I have a small dog who had 3 breaks from another dog we had if plated and that didn't work out and ended up with having it amputated, $5000 later, but she manages just fine

TWO ADOPTABLE PUPS:

These two are 9 to 10 Week Old siblings: “Copper” a male and “Brass” a Female, from YARN’s “Metal’s” Litter… They are ready to find their fur-ever homes, with active family’s, who will take them along on all their adventures…

Potential adopters should google Cane Corso Mastiff – to be sure this breed would be a good fit with your family…. The Corso requires plenty of socialization, training and exercise to be a good companion and family dog. They are Medium/Large size dogs with a strong build and short coat. The Corso is a higher energy, working dog who needs lots of mental and physical stimulation.

Their foster home has started their house-training and they are doing well in crate training. They settle quickly if well exercised and stay calm until human shows up again.

They are cautious of new people but easily won over with petting. We haven’t seen them around kids or other small pets, but they are good with other dogs. They are rambunctious, so supervision would be best, until training has calmed their puppy jumping. They were respectful of the foster’s older dog when he didn't want to play.

All potential adopters are required to submit an adoption application and be approved. You can do this online here: yukonanimalrescue.net/adoption-application/ If you’ve applied before, you must message me to ask that your application be processed for this dog. ADOPTABLE “SPIRIT” (Old name was “My Friend)

This handsome boy renamed “Spirit”, is one of the Male Husky’s that had a run-in with a porcupine a couple weeks back. Thanks to all the folks who donated to help… Both boys are healing up and feeling so much better.

No more play-dates with porcupines…! He was an outside only, free range or tethered dog at his old home… which doesn’t work for dogs that won’t give up their prickly hobby…. Spirit’s new family must be dedicated to containing him anytime he is out in the bush – and/or take him through obedience training until he has “proven recall”, which would give him and his family more freedom. He can do it…. He is an intelligent boy who learns quickly…

He looks to be a Shepherd / Husky Cross… 2 Years Old. His adoption fee will be exactly the cost of neutering him – a firm requirement.

His foster family think he’s great… They say:

Spirit is such a good boy! Very eager to please and he wants to be part of the family. He likes being around people, including kids, and he loves scratches & belly rubs. He’s a large dog but seems to have quite a gentle nature.

Spirit is learning well and making good progress. In just one week we’ve taught him to sit (when asked) before receiving his food dish, and before coming in or going out of the house. He is relatively quiet for a husky - he doesn’t bark a lot and doesn’t react to the garbage truck or other animals out the front window. He gets along fine with our female pup.

He is getting very comfortable inside the house and there haven’t been any accidents (beyond him marking a few times on the first day). That said, he doesn’t mind being tethered while out in the yard, so long as he has a shelter for napping in. Spirit is reasonably good on leash - he just wants to walk fast! He’s very strong and will need someone who can handle him while out on walks. He definitely needs more practice riding in cars, but no doubt will adjust quickly.

He’s a beautiful dog and will make a great companion! Would be ideal for a family where someone is working from home at the moment, who can give him some exercise at lunch and reassure him while he’s settling in.

You can do this online here: yukonanimalrescue.net/adoption-application/ If you’ve applied before, you must message YARN to ask that your application be processed for this dog. WHITEHORSE FOSTER NEEDED:

This is Lady... Mom of YARN’s Paw Patrol litter that were all adopted out back in August... (best video I have is when she was still preggers)

She is a really sweet girl, who loves affection. She has a spay date on Sept 28th. She might have a ride to the city today - so she would need a foster home for maybe a week and a half, before she would come back to Watson Lake.

She gets along great with all dogs... Don’t know about cats. I would not expect her to have any problems with kids as she is pretty laid back and friendly... A securely fenced yard is always preferred - or the foster would have to use a 100% leashing/tethering policy everytime she was outside of the house.

Send YARN a message - if Lady could bunk down at your place...

UPDATE: "MY FRIEND" IS NOW IN A FOSTER HOME...
They will be working on fine tuning his indoor skills - in preparation for adoption...

ADOPTABLE BOY - NEEDING A FOSTER HOME:

Hello... My name is “My Friend”... My face is sore from wrestling with a porcupine a few days ago…. I will arrive at the vet first thing this morning where the vet will pull quills while I take a little nap. I am grateful that a bunch of critter loving folks donated, so my brother and I could get help... I should be feeling a lot better before long. After I get finished at the vet, I will need a place to rest as I heal, while YARN seeks my new home... Maybe I can find someone willing to foster - with possible intent to adopt...?

A foster home with a securely fenced yard would be best – or folks who will use a 100% leashing/tethering policy anytime I’m outside of the house. As I am a large size dog a foster home with teens or older might be better, to avoid knock-over accidents…

My temporary foster says I am a very sweet boy with a good disposition, who has been very quiet. I’m a large sized dog, so I would do best in a home with teenagers & older, to prevent knock over accidents. My old owner didn’t think I’d be good with cats - or other small pets. I am not neutered yet, so best to avoid a foster home with other intact males at this point.

I am used to living outside on a chain... and I would be fine doing the same at a foster home, with a shelter. But my old owner says I can stay inside - and I will let you know when I have to go out... I would benefit with a foster willing to help me fine tune my indoor living skills... so I know how to be part of the family in my new fur-ever home.

FOSTER HOME – FOR TWO OUTDOOR DOGS:
AND DONATIONS FOR VET BILLS AGAIN:

Two Huskies who were quilled, are being surrendered from a community…. Their family pulled as many quills as they could… but they couldn’t get them all – and the male (in this picture) is wheezing now…. and they are unable to deal with this further. After healing, they will be re-homed so they do not come in contact with porcupines again.

If not helped, it’s possible the male may have to be put down... But, to accept them YARN needs help…!

They have a ride to the city today (Sunday Sept 19)…. They need a confirmed foster with a securely fenced yard, with a shelter and the ability to tether one dog… Both would have to be tethered or leashed – if no fenced yard. I’m told they let strangers’ approach, with no signs of aggression, and wagging their tails. That foster will have to get the dogs to the vet as required – possibly tomorrow for the Male as he is wheezing. I’m afraid I have no further info about them until mid-day tomorrow…

Sunday is the call out vet and after-hours fees. Quill removal is costly, involving knocking them out at a minimum. I know we just did a fundraiser on Friday for another dog… Any extra funds from that will go towards these quilled Husky’s… But YARN will need further donations to pay their vet bills.

DONATIONS CAN BE SENT TO:

E-Transfer to: Cheryl@YukonAnimalRescue.net
Paypal: paypal.me/HelpYARN
All funds received by YARN, will be turned over to Alpine Vet.

Normally the first choice listed is donating directly to the vet... But Alpine Vet is closed on the weekends…. They help animals every day but are unable to accept donations on Sunday…. They sure are busy these days, so I want to call them on Monday and be sure they are OK to accept folks donations and then I can post info about the way that is easiest for them….

UPDATE: A FOSTER HAS BEEN FOUND...

WHITEHORSE FOSTER NEEDED:

A lovely preggers dog will be flying in from a remote community... (I don't have a real picture of her yet)... She’s about ready to pop they say... So no time to waste... Must get her to the city before she gives birth...

This mama is an outside only dog, Medium Size, who is used to being tethered. Do you have a nice comfy dog house - or maybe a shed that she could be housed in... while she waits for a ride to get her to YARN in Watson Lake...? If you had a really high, securely fenced yard, maybe she would not have to be tied while in the city... Send YARN a message if you could foster her for a few days...

She is good with kids and other dogs... Don’t know if she has met cats... They say she is a sweet girl.

When will she be here? If you can’t find anyone, I have a shop she can hang out in, I can make it comfy for her.

I can also help if needed for a few days.

HELP NEEDED:

Hi… I am “Pangga”… My old name was “Skateboard” from YARN’s “Tricks Litter”…

There I was at my new home - just running up the steps outside (like all puppies do)…. When my foot slid and was trapped between 2 steps…. They say my “momentum” pushed the rest of my body forward, which broke both bones in my upper left front leg… They say I need an amputation, so I can still have a good quality life with my Dad.

Dad “totally” wasn’t prepared for this huge expense – just two months after adopting me… We are so lucky that a kind neighbour stepped forward to loan us the money, so surgery could go forward… Dad says it’s gonna be a struggle to pay all that back – but we’ll scrape together all we can and pay more whenever we are able… The neighbour suggested we do a fundraiser to to see if some kind folks might help out – so we can repay that loan back faster.

Do you have a few dollars to spare…?

There is a vet in Dawson Creek who fixes these kinds of breaks with pins. It costs about $2000 for the surgery. The front leg is more critical to the dog than the back leg. I would consider this if someone can drive him the 14 hours each way. Stay over in a hotel, then drive him home.

Pangga happy to be back home with daddy going on a wee walk Thanks for all that have donated so far

I feel like amputating it is such a severe reaction— there must be some alternative?? I’d love to donate

Amputated!?!? Can't broken bones heal if casted on a young dog?

Money sent to Cheryl Get well soon pup 🐶

Sent money to Cheryl ❤ happy recovery Pangga!
