UPDATE: WE HAVE ENOUGH FOSTER OFFERS... 😉

FOSTER NEEDED - 6 WEEKS:

This little guy is “Olaf”. Due to circumstances beyond their control, his owners must be away for the next 6 weeks. Olaf needs a foster home to hang at until his family returns and he needs it by tomorrow… (Friday May 7th)..

He is a Small Size, Mixed Breed. The officials helping the family do not know if Olaf is neutered or not yet… He is good with kids and animals they were told. He has some kenneling experience. And that’s about all we know about him so far.

We will want a securely fenced yard, or a foster that will use a 100% leashing/tethering policy whenever Olaf is outside of the house.

LONG TERM - PALLIATIVE - FOSTER NEEDED…

This girl is “Eyechart” from YARN’s “Medical Litter”… She is 3 Months Old. She should be looking for her fur-ever home, but at her vet health check, she was diagnosed with “Hydrocephalus”. Sadly, this means she will not live a long life… I’m told dogs with this condition typically live one year to 18 months. She has already been on immunosuppressant therapy and improved on that. She is being weaned off of that now – to see if she is holding her own.

We first noticed her blindness while she was growing up with her siblings at YARN in Watson Lake…. But she cannot come back here, as she will need to see the vet regularly, to monitor her condition. (5 hours away).

Maybe there is a family out there who has experience with this condition, who might be willing to be her fur-ever foster family…? Or someone who is willing to learn as they go. I would suggest googling and searching Youtube for video’s on this condition. If we can find a Whitehorse foster family for her, YARN will ensure her comfort, for as long as she has quality of life.

Maybe there are folks who could help a bit with Eyechart’s vet bills… You could call Alpine Vet at (867) 633-5700 and apply a credit to YARN’s Account.

Her current caregiver says:
I haven’t seen her with kids or cats. She doesn’t pay any attention to our dogs. She was alright with her siblings. She’ll need some training as she still barks and bites. She is improving with the biting. She is not leash trained. In a kennel, she barks at first, then she quiets down.

I have an intensive background in veterinary care and understand the detrimentals of her condition that I'm confident I could give her the best years or her life beginning to end regardless of how short or long it may be... I can take care if everything at this moment other than medical bills.. continued support in that area would be utmost appreciated.. value of life I can 100% provide

Can I have an application please

I can take her!! Only thing I live in the Okanagan so if we could arrange for her to get here Unfortunately I'll need help with her medication but promise whole heartedly she would live out her best life with me

i'm coming to terms with end of life dog, but i know you can have such a good end of life as well.

I would but my hubby is terrified to get attached. I don’t blame him but I’d risk it.

I would in a heart beat but I won't be home to the Yukon and settled for a bit.

Would take her in an instant if we still lived near there 😭😭

How much would it be to do the surgery to put in a drain? Everywhere online says expensive but that's it.

If she could get to Alberta..

Oh my heart. What a little angel. I am very sure my dog would fall in love with her. I hope there is some hope she can live longer than expected. She is absolutely beautiful. I wish I could take her.

Oh my god, I want to give this little one a home 🥺 but I’m scared my shepherd would get to attached

Aww isn’t she just the cutest!

Simply too sad...this dog was born with this...I think, for it's own sake, it should be euthanized...sadly, this is a hard crust to crumble for any adoptive person. I wish you had put links about this disease in your initial message...people need to know...this is a BRAIN disease , and the poor little puppy, will never be able to learn a thing roughly...and it just progresses...sad to say...I think this little pup, needs to RIP asap.

If I didn't already have a 6lb, 9 year old minpin, I would take her in a heartbeat. I usually take in special needs animals. I truly hope she finds a furever home to have the best possible quality of life. Sniff all the things, eat all the things and be loved. I will be making a donation to YARN's account tomorrow 🖤🖤🖤

i'll take this Baby sweet in a dogs lamgs of a tail!

Some info on the condition. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrocephalus

Wish skagway had a vet!😌😌😌💘

That’s suck a shame I hope they find a great home

Where is she

If you could pm me, as I already have a pug with this and he's now 11yrs. I am willing and capable of taking her/him on

I have a border collie mix who is 40 lbs(6 years old, resume from SCARS . I'm currently off work . I can care for that puppers with 24/7 love and have good success with animal care . I'm in Edmonton however . What are monthly vet bills around ? I'm in an apartment that allows large dogs as well and am located by 4 different parks and trails . Im active and walk my current dog 5x a day once is for 5km. I would absolutely love to give her a big brother ,and a place where she'll receive constant attention and never a kennel . Help with vet bills is all I would need occasionally and am 3 blocks from a reputable one .

Balah and I would on a heartbeat but just moved back to Ontario. Wanna send the little nugget here?

Tiffany not sure you’d be up for this....but maybe you know someone... 🐾🐾💞

She looks just like her sister. I wish I could take her, too. Sharon Heynen

FOSTER NEEDED - 1 OLDER PUPPY:

These beauties are: Art, History and Music, from YARN’s “School” Litter. There are 3 of the 4 pups that were surrendered from the folks who were trying to give them away on Kijiji... There is one more pup - a male - who is needing a foster home. I don’t have a picture of him yet - but he has to be picked up “today”...!

These pups are about 5 to 6 months old and have lived in a pen only. So they don’t have any training under their belts yet...

Send YARN a message if you can foster that fourth boy. Or maybe someone who is looking for a dog, would be interested in fostering him with intent to adopt...?

ALL potential adopters are required to submit an adoption application and be approved. You can do this online here: yukonanimalrescue.net/adoption-application/ Applications are considered in the order interest is received for each dog… But YARN will always pick the home that is best for “that dog”. You only have to apply once. If you don’t get the dog you applied for, your application will be filed. If you’ve applied before, send a message through the YARN page, to ask that your application be considered for this dog.

UPDATE: LADY WILL STAY AT HER CURRENT FOSTER...
If help is needed in the future - we will contact those who offered in various ways... 😀
___________________________________
A FOSTER FOR LADY PLEASE...?

This is “Lady”… She is the mom of a YARN litter, who lives in a very remote community, which is only accessible by plane. She has raised her babies in the city and now awaits her spay before flying back to her family. The earliest we could get a surgery date is June 15th… so she will need a foster home for about 7 weeks. (we like to keep dogs in the city, close to the vet for 3 or 4 days after, in case of after surgery complications).

Her current foster is worn out after helping raise those babies…. This is what she says about Lady:

“Lady is a sweet, lovely dog. She is house trained. She will let me know when she needs to go out by acting more needy...lol. She’s great with my dogs, ok with the cats. There’s a bit of chasing but she’s not aggressive. She loves my kids. She will bark at new people but warms up quickly. She has a nervous energy about her and is very needy of attention and is very jealous if I give anything else attention (including my phone!). She’s affectionate. She’s a bit jumpy with noises and fast movements and gets upset if there is a hint of emotion (i.e. if I scold my dogs or get frustrated with my kids). On leash she’s pretty good, she pulls occasionally but mostly is very loyal and in tune with me. She is a counter surfer extraordinaire...she’ll get fully on the counter or table and help herself. She will also scratch at the door to get in, or if left in a room she’ll scratch to come out. She also hides food and treats in between couch cushions and in other hidden spots for safe keeping. (Her other foster said she is good in her kennel - and actually likes it and considers it her own little place)

We prefer a foster home with a securely fenced yard – to keep Lady safe in the city…. Or the foster would need to commit to a 100% leashing/tethering policy, anytime Lucy is outside. The foster would need to get Lady to Alpine Vet by 8:30 AM – on June 15th. And pick her up later in the afternoon. And the foster will need to deliver Lady to the airport on the day of her flight (usually early morning)

Note: We already have a “stack” of applications for Lady’s pups - and will not need any more...

WHITEHORSE FOSTER NEEDED
UNDER 24 HOURS

Beauty will be driven to Whitehorse on Sunday (time TBA) – staying overnight. The foster has to get her to the Air North Cargo Office by 6:00 AM on Monday morning – so she can fly back to her community. The kennel she is to fly in – is at another foster home in Whitehorse, so that would have to be picked up Sunday.

Beauty is a Medium Sized dog, who normally lives mostly outside… She is the mother of YARN’s “Fastener’s” litter… She has been spayed and it’s time for her to go home.

She did OK raising her babies inside a foster home, as long as someone was home. But when left alone in the home she suffered from separation anxiety and damaged walls/doors… At her boarding facility she was trained for – and came to love her kennel. The foster should have a securely fenced yard, or willingness to use a 100% leashing/tethering policy anytime she is outside of the home.

WHITEHORSE FOSTER NEEDED:

This fella is “Tanner”… He needs a confirmed Whitehorse foster home by this afternoon (Friday Apr 23)…. So, he can catch a ride that is leaving Watson Lake at 3PM… He needs a place in the city to bunk down while YARN finds his fur-ever home.

Tanner is a very friendly, happy and affectionate Shepherd/Lab Cross Puppy of Maybe 5 Months Old? He looks bigger in these pictures than he is... If you look at the 2 drawer file cabinet beside him - you can see his height... He gets along great with other dogs… He probably lived only outside – and his house-training is a work in progress. I don’t know if he has met kids - but he is such a friendly boy, I could see him really loving them. Don’t know if he has met cats. He will need an active family with other pets and kids and lots of adventures.

A securely fenced yard is preferred, or 100% leashing/tethering policy anytime he is outside of the house. The foster would take him to his vet health check…. And allow approved adopters to meet him at your convenience.

Hello... YARN has named me: “Spud”... I need a foster home in Whitehorse while YARN finds my fur-ever home... It could also be a home that is fostering me with possible intent to adopt... A trial run - to be sure I am a fit for your family.

I was picked up as a stray and nobody claimed me, so not much is known about me, except I hung out at the school a few days playing with the kids, before being picked up. Someone commented on the original post that I am a very sweet dog and the person caring for me says I am a good, friendly boy with a good appetite. I am not yet neutered - the cost of that will be my adoption fee.

Until folks learn more about me, probably best to have a foster home with no cats or other small pets... I would need a securely fenced yard to keep me safe in the city, or a foster that is prepared to use a 100% leashing/tethering policy anytime I am outside of the house... My foster would also take me to my vet health check.

WHITEHORSE LITTER FOSTER NEEDED:

YARN is seeking a foster home for a mama dog named Lucy and her 4 pups called YARN’s “Spring Litter”. They are 1.5 weeks old - and will need a foster until they are ready for adoption on June 3rd. YARN can loan the foster a whelping box, which makes containing the pups and their poop easier. Once a foster is confirmed then transport can be arranged from her community. Go to YARN’s page and Send a Message - if you can care for this litter until YARN finds their fur-ever homes.

Lucy is a Medium sized dog, who has kids, dogs and cats at home. She is friendly, affectionate, housetrained and vaccinated. She pulls a bit on leash.

We would prefer a securely fenced yard to keep Lucy safe in the city, or a foster who would follow a 100% leashing/tethering policy whenever Lucy is outside the home. The foster would get the litter to the vet, for their vaccines and health check... before adoption, and allow socially distanced visits from approved adopters. Lucy would go back home around June 27th, if done nursing...

Wonder if I’ll have…. “Phantom Tail”…?

Hi… I am Trigger… A couple days ago, due to infection, my tail was amputated, (thanks to an animal loving health professional in a community). Based on the road rash pattern, they think I mighta’ tangled with a car tire. I’m starting to feel better with antibiotics on board…! Soon I’ll be learning to wag my whole bum, to show I’m happy…!

YARN says soon I can find my fur-ever home… I will need a confirmed foster in Whitehorse, then YARN can seek a ride from Watson Lake maybe by the weekend. My foster would take me to my vet health check, as yet to be arranged by YARN. It could also be a “foster with possible intent to adopt” situation. 😉

I am a Medium Sized Lab Cross – about 2 Years Old…. My new home should include kids and other dogs and a securely fenced yard… with active humans that include fur family in the adventures too. Never met a cat. I’m pretty quiet and laid back right now - but I should soon be back to my attention loving self soon. My adoption fee will be exactly the cost of neutering me.

We have large paws and already weighed 15 and 18 pounds, at 9 Weeks Old…. We will be big dogs, so we need active families that can provide at least basic obedience training and lifelong regular exercise and adventures, to keep us happy and well adjusted.

All potential adopters are required to submit an adoption application and be approved. You can do this online here: http://yukonanimalrescue.net/adoption-application/ If you’ve applied before, you must message YARN to ask that your application be processed for a dog or litter. Applications are considered in the order interest is received… But YARN will always pick the home that is best for “that dog”. Approved adopters will get the foster’s contact info to visit dogs.Image attachmentImage attachment

Update: (April 16) *** STILL MISSING ***
Missing since March 29th. 🙁

Do you live in the Mt. Lorne/Robinson/South Klondike area...? Now that spring is arriving, perhaps it is easier to get out to your out-buildings - sheds, greenhouses, cabins, garages...? Would you please take the time out of your weekend to check those places, to see if Coda somehow locked herself inside... No sightings so that is a real possibility... She is familiar with the area so it is unlike her to have not returned home. Her family misses her and is worrying so much about her... 💙

Coda is about 65lbs, a Husky Cross, wearing a green collar with tag. Very friendly - loves treats and will likely get into your car even if you don't ask. (867)689-7224.

UPDATE: A TRANSPORTER HAS BEEN FOUND...
___________________________
TRANSPORTER NEEDED:

If I am unable to find an alternate foster, a small mama dog and her litter of 7 pups – may need to travel from Whitehorse to YARN in Watson Lake. YARN also needs 6 bags of puppy formula kibble (3 from Feed Store/3 from Walmart) and 2 flats of Canned Milk from Superstore – brought to Watson Lake.

And the transporter would transport one adult dog and a litter of 6 pups from Watson Lake to Whitehorse.

We would aim for tomorrow (Sunday) or Monday at the latest…. The trip could originate/and end – either in Whitehorse or Watson Lake. YARN will pay your gas and $100.00 for food etc…

Send YARN a message if you are up for this road trip…!

UPDATE: A FOSTER HAS BEEN FOUND...
_____________________________
LITTER FOSTER NEEDED:

YARN is seeking a new foster home for Lady & her pups. A home that has a “spare room” big enough to hold a whelping box that is 33” wide by 54” Long, with a couple of feet to walk around 2 sides of it… A warm basement, or heated garage would work too. You wouldn’t “have” to use YARN’s whelping box – you could build your own enclosure – but the whelping boxes sure make it easier to contain the pups and clean up after them.

I didn’t realize the first foster home was a one room cabin, where a human can’t move without the pups seeing them. The 2nd foster home “thought” the whelping box would fit in a room of their own – but it didn’t, so they also tried in the middle of the house, but with multiple humans in the house, there are too many triggers for the pups – nobody is getting any rest.

Having their own room, will get pups past a habit of crying to bring human’s running. This stops when they cannot see the human’s going by all day long… Within a day or two, they turn and focus on their siblings, where they will learn so many lessons from each other about how to be a dog – as they should be. These lessons set them up to be well adjusted dogs for the rest of their lives.

Of course, the foster will provide any care needed – and some cuddles for each…. But the majority of their time in these early weeks (up to 8 weeks), should be spent alone together - focusing on each other. They have the rest of their lives to bond with human’s.

YARN already has lots of applications for this litter, which will be considered in the order that interest was received.

Those were my thoughts...if I had a piece of plywood down...I would have to dig for hours then get the ice scraper out to peel it off the ground!! I doubt the little guy would appreciate northern living🤪

Omg how cute. Vancouver Island gets these kinds of "dumps"!

Me too after last nights sprinkle of snow

What stops the board from freezing to ground. Here that 2ould work 1 day

OK so my pup won't go on the grass...only the snow. I need to move further north 😳

I think I've icing sugar-dusted padtries and had more coverage...😂😂

I was thinking the same thing...

The pup won't make it up here

💞😆

Alqasim Alobedy you should do this for your pup

Willow needs to hitch a ride from Watson Lake to Whitehorse - to her new family... Are you heading that way - and want some enthusiastic and adoring canine company...?

She could travel in a Large Size kennel if you have room to fit that inside your vehicle. Or she could lay on a quilt put over your seat. Willow is a very friendly girl who loves human’s... and gets along well with other dogs.
