These handsome boys are “Jack” (orange) and “Bagheera” (black). In December, they were moving with their family, from Georgia to Fairbanks Alaska… All was good until the vehicle was stolen in Whitecourt Alberta…. Unfortunately, when it was found, they discovered the cats had been dumped along the way.
The good folks of Whitecourt agreed to keep an eye out for the cats… Today it is confirmed that they have found “Jack”… Can the YARN network find a way to get Jack to Fairbanks…? Yes - we are also going to flood the animal pages in Whitecourt, with the story, in the hopes of also finding “Bagheera” – so they could travel together…?
Air North is not flying out of Alberta until mid-February… But if we find a ride to Vancouver, or a different airline Edm to Van…. Jack has a foster home ready in Vancouver, until his flight to Whitehorse – where he also has a foster home ready, until a ride that is already going to Alaska is found. (there are a 7 military bases in Alaska, so lots of U.S. Military people are always moving to & from – pandemic or not)
Send YARN a message if you think you can help with any of the steps – of getting this boy back to his family… ... See MoreSee Less
Thank you so much for helping with our story and help to get them home! I also wanted to mention we were coming from Georgia, I'm terribly sorry if I said Texas on accident!❤
I shared it on the main "Alcan" group where people heading to and from Alaska (mostly military transfers) go to ask questions. www.facebook.com/groups/521387271261906
I'll share to our dog park group in Vancouver - lots of cat owners too that might be able to foster.
Why fly them to Vancouver? There is tons of military moving, aren't they allowed to transport someone else's cats? I get their vehicles may be full but it would be easier on the cats.
You are amazing YARN!
YARN I live in Vancouver
Angelica Ramirez Morales mami, do you guys still goes up North on your trips? Wondering if this was possible?
Rachel Rodrigue can you foster Jack for a day or two if he flies to van?
If we don’t chase em’ on the regular - the Dust Bunnies multiply & eat their young at YARN... 😉 ... See MoreSee Less

UPDATE: Lucy was found and is back with her owner.
LOST DOG - HAINES JUNCTION AREA:
This is Lucy... Around Noon on Tuesday Jan 12th, she was out in the bush in the Haines Junction/Marshall Creek/Pine Lake area, with her owner (who was working), when she went missing. She is a 2 year old, Female, Black & White Husky with a Pink Collar (which was loose, so she could pull out of it)
Someone saw a man pulled over on the side of the highway between Haines Junction and Otter Falls on Tuesday around 2PM, trying to get a black & white dog into his truck – driving towards Whitehorse…. Yes – the owner has contacted Mae Bachur and left a message at Whitehorse Bylaw…
If you see her, or have her safe at your home, or know where she is - please message YARN - who will advise the owner... ... See MoreSee Less
So good to hear she's safe and back home 💜
Oh no! Get her home! She's loved.
Shared poor girl, I hope she comes back to you 🥲
Yukon Animal Rescue Network - YARN shared a video from the playlist Friends & Fun Time.

This is why “reputable” rescue organizations shut down adoptions over the holidays. Taking on a 15 year commitment to be a responsible pet owner, is something each “adult” person must “choose” for themselves... AND - no, children are “not” capable of making that commitment to an animal.
FYI... There is no such thing as a “Purebred Mix”... It’s a mutt... A lovely, very cute one - but still a mutt... ... See MoreSee Less
I literally cringed through this whole video. Those woman are just ridiculous and make themselves look very uneducated when calling it a “purebred mix” 😒 that poor mother.
i agree that as a surprise gift not a great idea but a book on shelters researched in the US admittedly showed no huge uptake in rate of "returns" after christmas than at any other time, I think it was called "Saving Penny". has anyone done actual research on the numbers in Canada?
If it was bought from a reputable breeder there absolutely is a return policy. No breeder with any ethics will not take back their dog and in fact it is in their adoption/purchase policies. Fact.
Yikes. If someone gave me a new dog after I had lost my dog I wouldn't want it either - that is such a personal decision!
It ticks me off trying to find a puppy for myself and people are just giving them away...luckily this lady had someone take the doggie
We close for Christmas as I will not adopt to anyone period
What a horrible position to be in.
These children are horrible!! First how can you pick out a pet for someone and second how can you guilt and insist she keep a 10-15 year responsibility that she didn’t ask for???
THE best kinda obsessed I know of.
I think it happened!
The best kind 💞💓💞
I know it’s been a tough year... But are you able to spare a few dollars - to boost the donations to The Feed Store Pet Junction...? Every year this business holds a fundraiser - then matches the total raised - and splits that money between 5 rescue organizations.
YARN is lucky to be one of those organizations... YARN is a foster based rescue... Our portion of the donation supplies basic items needed for Whitehorse fosters to do their job.
If you are able to donate, go to the Feedstore / Pet Junction Facebook page to find out how. ... See MoreSee Less
Do you have to donate in person?
Please let me know if there is a way to donate online. 🐾

UPDATE: WE HAVE A RIDE...
Whitehorse to Watson Lake
Just Replacement Milk for Kittens
Unfortunately a large dog killed a mama cat here in Watson Lake today... leaving 4 kittens that are only 10 days old. Their owner is making home-made formula, to feed these kittens until the Milk Replacement for Kittens can get here. Someone picked it up from the vet and is ready to give it to anyone traveling down this way...
(Note: This is an internet picture - not a picture of one of the actual kittens... YARN is not handling this litter - just assisting the owner... who says they already have homes for all kittens) ... See MoreSee Less
Sharing this. My rescued kitten needed milk replacement but I couldn't find any and found out goats milk worked as a replacement until I found more.
Who is handling the kittens? I might be interest in adopting one.
Something is to be said how the presence of a dog makes the house feel like a home.
Even better when the cat does..they pretty well don't like anyone...
Sums up the year perfectly... 🐹💩 ... See MoreSee Less

UPDATE: KEJI - HAS BEEN ADOPTED.
ADOPTABLE - 4.5 MONTH OLD MALE PUP:
Hello…. My name is “Keji”. I am a 4.5-month-old Male Husky / Collie Cross?. Turns out I’m a bit more active than my adoptive family had anticipated. Being a high energy dog, it might be best of my new family had older kids – rather than toddlers. I am more rambunctious when I haven’t had enough exercise/play time… so I will need an active family that loves adventuring…! I am house trained – with the occasional accident. I am great with other dogs. I haven’t met cats or other small pets yet. I am still doing leash training… I can pull a bit – so will need some direction to help with that. I can be a bit shy when I first meet someone – but it doesn’t last long – and I warm up quickly. My adoption fee will be exactly the cost of neutering me.
All potential adopters are required to submit an adoption application and be approved. You can do this online here: yukonanimalrescue.net/adoption-application/ If you’ve applied before, you must message me to ask that your application be processed for this dog. Applications are considered in the order interest is received… But YARN will always pick the home that is best for “that dog”. Approved adopters will get info to meet Keji. ... See MoreSee Less
We have his sister and she is adorable. Yes very active - yet very loving and great with other dogs, people and kids. Keji you will find your forever home soon sweety.
We have his brother and he is such a sweet heart, very obedient with good training practice. I hope he goes to an active family who is willing to do training with him!
Omg is he Timber’s brother from sky litter??
Has he been adopted yet?
So sweet ❤️ he’s gonna be a big guy😊
Jeff Gartshore lutak's brother 💓
Wow, he’s going to be so smart and FUN! 💕
Krystal Profeit, maybe they have a small pup
Oh wow what a sweetie I wish I could have him
Shane Shgáati Schinkel
So adorable ❤️
Such a sweetie!
I need Keji omg
RAWHIDE DOG TREATS:
Rawhide treats can cause very serious medical problems... One of my dogs almost died years back from one getting stuck in his throat... They are so over processed to look good “to human’s”...
I recommend “Raw” real moose or beef bones. These are great for their teeth and last “so” long and won’t chip or splinter - like cooked bones do. I give them frozen... So dogs get the outside cleaned off before they thaw and make a mess... ... See MoreSee Less
Good info. My dog nearly choked on rawhide and if I wasn’t paying attention to help I’m not sure what would have happened
This is my favorite video to share whenever I see rawhide posts.... usually helps anyone on the fence fully understand youtu.be/Oc265q0ZRss
Awful...my dog Pepper and my friend visiting both ended up at vet...for days. Never again.
UPDATE: A CARPENTER HAS BEEN FOUND...
CARPENTER NEEDED - To repair Whelping Box...
YARN has 3 whelping boxes in Whitehorse. These make it so much easier for foster homes to contain litters of puppies and clean up after them.
The Large Box needs repairs... Any carpenters in Whitehorse able to do this work in the next week...? This box will be needed for a litter around Dec 14th. ... See MoreSee Less
Mike Thewood? I know you are super busy but probably not a huge job
UPDATE: SKI-DOO HAS BEEN ADOPTED...
ADOPTABLE MALE PUP
Hello... I am “Ski-doo” - from YARN’s “Snowmobile Litter”... I am an 8 week old pup - at a Whitehorse foster home and ready to go to my fur-ever home now. My mom is a Shepherd Cross - and they say my dad kind of looked like a St. Bernard. I will be a large sized dog - who will need an active family to make sure I get activity and adventures to keep me healthy and well adjusted all my life...
ALL potential adopters are required to submit an adoption application and be approved. You can do this online here: yukonanimalrescue.net/adoption-application/ Applications are considered in the order interest is received for each dog… But YARN will always pick the home that is best for “that dog”. If you’ve applied before, send a message to ask that your application be considered for this dog. ... See MoreSee Less

UPDATE: A FOSTER WAS FOUND... AND THESE PUPS HAVE ALL BEEN ADOPTED...
WHITEHORSE FOSTER NEEDED:
YARN’s “Reptile Litter” are Four pups who will look a lot like these two - (from the same family)... They are 8.5 Weeks old - so ready for adoption just as soon as they have their vet appointment on Dec 8 - 3:30 PM, which the foster would take them to. They have a ride from their community to Whitehorse in the next 2 or 3 days... Send YARN a message if you are able to foster four pups for a few days... (or maybe 2 fosters - with two pups in each home?) ... See MoreSee Less
Is it the same family as the gum litter few years back ?
OMG! These two look so much like my Zeus! He’s 8 mos in this pic but looks like they could be related. He’s not a YARN pup, but definitely a Yukon Special! He & my Waylon (YARN-Oil Litter) are the bestest of buddies!!
I’m interesting in adopting one. I just lost a dog and now have only one. I’d like to see the whole litter though before adopting. Who do I contact?
These are the pups. ❤
How big will they get. I’m looking for a dog about 20-30lbs - to be pals and with my current 12 yr old female
Are these available still. What breed and size
Are any up for adoption?
Karee Vallevand, start off doing a foster ???

Jess van den Broek !
