ADOPTABLE HEELER ADULT

Spike is a 3 year old 95% Blue Heeler/Husky cross, one of the pups from YARN’s “Land Before Time” litter in 2015… He was adopted, but due to life changes in his family, they seek a new home for him.

This is what his owner says about him:

Spike is about 75lbs, Neutered and up to date on all shots. He is housebroken… Very good with teenage kids, never been around young kids so I can’t give an educated comment on that, but I’ve never had an issue walking around other kids. Always lived with other dogs, a small Shih-Tzu and a large pit bull mastiff, no issues other than some initial figuring out dominance level between the boys. He has been around other dogs his entire life, no other issues. Dog kennels love him and say he’s well behaved. Never around cats. He really, really needs to be with someone who can be with him outside. We have taken him camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, snowshoeing, etc and he loves being outside.

He’s been trained puppy school, obedience level one as two with Jackie. Trained recall on a Sportdog Ecollar. We haven’t needed to use it since the first training session with Jackie two summers ago. Every time he initially goes out he likes to “talk” which we still haven’t trained out of him, but the more consistent you bring him out the less he “talks”. He’s very smart. He’s always been on very high-end dog food or on a raw food diet and I’ve never had any digestive issues with him.

I’d say the biggest behavior issue was recall while off leash on walking trails and meeting other people. It was better last summer, but we moved to an area where we don’t really run into people when we’re off leash, so I can’t really say if that’s not still an issue.
